Los Angeles TFC Server
TFCLauncher7.exe
January 21, 2002

I wrote this program because I could not find a launcher program that had all the variables for the server.cfg file that I wanted to see.

The new Version 7.0 I fixed a few bugs. This version seems to work ok on Windows XP, 2000, NT, 98, and Windows ME.
I recommend running this program in at least 1024x768 resolution, if not higher.

When you start the TFC Launcher Program it fills in the screens with the values from your autoexec.cfg, server.cfg, motd.txt, and mapcycle.txt files.
If it does not find an the above mentioned files, it will create them with their default values, if any are required.

The program also looks at your \Sierra\Half-Life\TFC\Maps directory for a list of all the maps you may have for TFC.

The program also gives you the ability to start a dedicated TFC Server.
You can then join your own game right from the same screen.

NOTE: The TFC Launcher Program works best if you set your system display fonts to small.
It does not matter what resolution you have, just set your fonts to small.
If you need help setting your system display fonts to small, go here: System Display Fonts...

Noted Problems that I haven't figured out how to fix yet....
I noticed when I pressed on the button to change where my default directory for the Hlds.exe file is, and when I am in the directory selection window, if I want to go from a higher drive letter such as D:\ to a lower drive letter such as C:\, it won't select it.
So, first select a higher drive letter such as E:\ and then select the C:\ .
It seems to work okay doing that.

I haven't found any other bugs.
Please let me know if you do or if you want some other customizations added to the program.

Expected configuration of the files autoexec.cfg and server.cfg:

The program looks for the server.cfg and the autoexec.cfg files
It expects to find them in the format such as the following:

hostname	"my game server"
sv_gravity	"500"
maxplayers	"16"

The field name is on the left side and it's value is on the right enclosed in double quotes.
The value can be separated from it's field name by either tabs or spaces.
The program will ignore lines that are begun with two back slashes \\
If the above format is not followed, then the file cannot be read.
If you know that you have the server.cfg and autoexec.cfg in the default directory locations and the TFC Launcher program is not reading them, it is probably because of the format of your server.cfg and autoexec.cfg files.
Change the format to match the above example for each file and then save the files and
try and run the TFC Launcher program again.
